In my English class, the one activity that my class does very often is close noting different articles. In the beginning of the year, I wasn't used to this and I kept on messing all of the steps up. Now, I'm more comfortable with close noting and, like the article on the right, make sure to fully close note the entire article. I've close noted several different types of articles, long or short, on several different types of topics, fun or serious. This is not one of my favorite activities in English, but I don't mind doing it. All the writing on the side is questions, a brief summary, or my own personal thoughts on the sentence(s). To this day, I've applied a better skill at close noting and I get an A on every article I close notes thanks to all of the better skills I've learned.

One positive that these close notes have done for me is it has taught me better skills on close noting that I can use in the future. Whenever I close note, it helps me be more organized with my information, as I highlight by different colors, like shown on the right, to help me stay organized with what I'm highlighting and mentioning in my reflections. These close noted articles can make great study guides for when I do need them in an essay or just for looking back on when I need to. This helps better explain what's actually happening instead of reading the same line a million times to understand it, which was the exact problem I had before I did close noting.

Before doing close notes, I had huge trouble finding the main point of information provided in an article. I had a hard time comprehending all the information that was told and needed in an article. After doing close notes, I can find information more easier and have my own thoughts on any topic. This has helped me organized my information more and I know where to find everything on an article. Those were the benefits that close noting had on finding information on an article.
